synopsis: Salmon farming in a Norwegian fjord disturbs something much, much larger than the salmon.

impressions: This was a solid monster movie, which wisely didn't reveal the monster until almost an hour in (the 58:00 mark to be precise, which is when a giant tentacle proved beyond any doubt that there was something huge lurking in the water.) I can't say the underlying plot made sense (the "Salmon Lice" product comes to mind) but it was damn clear that the humans' efforts were somehow provoking the giant squid or whatever it was. Most of the deaths resulted from its attacks, although a couple were due to the smaller parasites that could apparently chew through people. The foreign setting and language also distinguished the movie from most others of this type. The monster effects were good and never looked crappy.

body count: 13 confirmed, plus (presumably) the missing boat with an unknown number of victims aboard

acting: As I don't speak Norwegian, I can't properly assess the acting here, but the leads all seemed to do convincing jobs.

final word: Good, entertaining sea monster fun.
