Reacher, season 4
"I'm good at not letting people get away with things." - Reacher
release year: 2026
genre: action/drama (8 episodes)
viewing setting: home streaming 8/22 to 9/16/26, as they were released on Amazon
synopsis: Ex-military cop Reacher watches a distraught woman kill herself in a subway, and when things after that don't add up, he takes an interest in the reason why.
impressions: This seemed more fast-paced than the last three seasons - it started off fast and kept the characters moving (or running) almost constantly. There were multiple parties involved in the plot, including more than three allies and at least two government agencies. There were also betrayals and surprises. And most importantly, there were plenty of bad guys getting their asses kicked (some more than once) by Reacher, as he dispensed swift and brutal justice at every opportunity. This season also marked the closest he came to death - twice - and the final fight in the eighth episode ended with him bearing a dozen bleeding wounds and weak from loss of blood.
acting: Alan Ritchson continues to make this role his, and probably also make it the defining one of his career; besides his sheer size and presence, he projects the attitude and confidence of the character from the books with authority. Sydelle Noel is a detective who gets drawn into things and allies with Reacher; she does a good job as a serious and realistic co-protagonist. Ditto for Christopher Marquette as a cop who's also the brother of the woman in the subway and wants to find out why she did it. Agnez Mo and Anggun (both from Indonesia) are apparent victims who aren't telling the whole story.
final word: Great fourth season. I'll just keep saying it: if you like mystery-solving mixed with action, you will probably like this series. If you like the books, you will definitely like this series. I know I do, and I continue to hope that as many of the ~30 books as possible will get adapted with this actor and production team.
