The A-Team: West Coast Turnaround

episode number: season 1, episode 9 (1983)
viewing setting: home DVD, 6/19/04

episode synopsis: The team is hired to help a watermelon farmer and daughter get their crop delivered so they don't lose their farm.

impressions: Not bad. They use some good tricks during a chase, including a smokescreen and dropping nails in the road, and Hannibal also plays one hell of a trick on the bad guys to get the crop through the roadblock. This is also the one where they drop watermelons on the bad guys from a helicopter.

notable guest star: Well, I'll be damned. Stuart Whitman, who played the sheriff in the awful Eaten Alive, plays the main bad guy here!

what the team builds in this episode: they put a cow-catcher on a truck to make a ram, also armor-plate a LeCar

Hannibal wisecrack highlight: verbally taunts the bad guy despite being outnumbered, also berates Face for poor marksmanship before dropping a watermelon from a helicopter onto the bad guys' truck

B.A. toughness highlight: singlehandedly beats up most of the bad guys during the first confrontation

Murdock insanity highlight: talks to and pets his invisible dog Billy, pretends he's a horse

Face scam highlight: tries to figure out a way to make money selling watermelons

Amy usefulness highlight: does some recon, later unwillingly donates her LeCar to the escape plan
