The A-Team: Beverly Hills Assault

episode number: season 3, episode 22 (1985)
viewing setting: home DVD, 2/22/06

episode synopsis: The team helps some street painters whose friend was being forced to paint fakes of famous, valuable originals.

impressions: Decent episode. Murdock used some cool electronics to communicate with the others after being locked away. The bit with the painting-swapping was a little much, though the idea to use the street painters to help with the plan was good. This episode continued several trends: the team took on a charity case, there was a bigger bad guy running the show, and they stuck a bug on something or someone so they could track them.

notable guest star: Dennis Franz, who was a bad guy in an earlier episode and a brash police captian in Die Hard 2, plays a bad guy here. Branscombe Richmond, who co-starred in the Renegade series, is hired muscle here.

what the team builds in this episode: Nothing.

Hannibal wisecrack highlight: Insults one main bad guy while under the gun, later drives the other main bad guy's Mercedes through the wall of his expensive art gallery before shooting the place up.

B.A. toughness highlight: When being fitted for a suit, his chest is too big to get the tape around; also, cuts through the red tape involved with getting a car from the valet even if it's not yours.

Murdock insanity highlight: Poses as a brilliant but kooky painter.

Face scam highlight: Poses as a writer for an art magazine to get some intel on the bad guys.
