Avengers: Endgame
"This is the fight of our lives. We are going to win. Whatever it takes." - Captain America
release year: 2019
genre: superhero action
viewing setting: theater 5/10/19
synopsis: In the aftermath of Thanos' widespread destruction, the surviving heroes try to figure out a way to undo the damage.
impressions: Well, this was it, part 2 of the biggest Marvel movie yet, one that involves pretty much everyone from all previous movies since 2008. Like the last one, this movie is all over the place - Earth, distant corners of the universe, even the sub-atomic realm. This wasn't perfect - it felt a little rushed and deux-ex-machina-like at times, and had one glaring logical plot point - but it was about the only way to tackle the chaos from the last movie. There was plenty of superhero action, some deaths, and some send-offs for characters whose time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe appears to be over.
acting: I'm not going to list them all here - there are dozens and we've seen them all before. Pretty much everyone from every Marvel movie is here, and gets something to do in this three-hour epic.
final word: Superhero action on a grand scale, and the end to the immense body of work that makes up Marvel's movies to this point.
