Peninsula

release year: 2020
genre: zombie action/drama
viewing setting: home Bluray 12/26/20

synopsis: Years after zombies took over the South Korean peninsula, a small team heads back there.

impressions: This was a sequel to Train to Busan with new characters. I can't say I understood exactly why the four people chose to undertake the mission - it was obvious to me that they'd get double-crossed even if they made it out alive. Anyway, in addition to the same zombie behavior from the first film, this blended in elements from Day of the Dead and The Road Warrior.

acting: Gang Dong-won is the guilt-ridden soldier protagonist. Kim Do-yoon is his brother-in-law who has nothing left to live for. Lee Jung-hyun is the competent and brave mother of two young kids, both of whom are useful (one is a skilled stunt driver despite being maybe ten years old.) Kim Min-jae is an insane sergeant from a renegade bunch of soldiers who have invented new ways to pass the time.

final word: Good fast-moving-zombie action.
