Prehistoric Women

release year: 1967
genre: Hammer fantasy
viewing setting: home DVD, 3/19/00
what I expected: no idea
what I got: lots of scantily-clad beautiful women running around being stupid

synopsis: A lucky guy chases a wounded tiger into the wrong part of the jungle, and ends up in a lost land run by black-haired warrior-women who keep blond-haired warrior-women as their slaves.

impressions: I guess it was fairly entertaining. There's definitely something to be said for having dozens of beautiful, nearly-naked women constantly dancing or fighting. However, the guy was stupid (utterly failed to take advantage of his situation in any way) and so was the woman who was leading the rebel group. This was one of those movies where you watch a character do something and just groan. Of note: several very well-choreographed and -executed wild dance scenes. Also notable: Martine Beswick (one of the two fighting gypsy girls in From Russia With Love) starred as the leader of the "good" tribe of blond women.

acting: Not too great, really.

final word: Decent enough, but it's no epic blockbuster.

rating: C
