The A-Team: There's Always a Catch

episode number: season 2, episode 8 (1983)
viewing setting: home DVD, 6/15/05

episode synopsis: While fleeing the MPs, the team ends up helping a family of lobster fishermen who are suffering extortion from an evil fisherman.

impressions: This series has the ability to entertain while being completely implausible. Battle-hardened, highly-trained ex-commandos would come up with more effective solutions to bad guys than what we see in this show.

notable guest star: I can name three: 1) John Quade, the main evil bad guy, is perhaps best known for his role as the biker gang leader in Every Which Way But Loose and its sequel. 2) Tracy Scoggins, one of the threatened fishing family here, has been eye candy in dozens of B-movies (and was also a guest-star in the earlier A-Team episode The Rabbit Who Ate Las Vegas.) 3) Dick Durock, an evil henchman here, has been a stuntman in many good movies, and was beneath the suit in Swamp Thing.

what the team builds in this episode: Nothing, though B.A. spends a short time working on an engine (I'm not sure why.)

Hannibal wisecrack highlight: After the team's initial beating of the bad guys, he doesn't wait, but rather hatches a plan to bomb their lobster traps. He also has plenty of wisecracks for Decker after the team gets captured.

B.A. toughness highlight: despite an injured foot, he kicks plenty of butt.

Murdock insanity highlight: befriends "Thermidor", a lobster mounted on a plaque.

Face scam highlight: talks a dive shop owner into letting him borrow some equipment

Amy usefulness highlight: uses her looks to help hijack the MP truck that's coming to get the team
